Sean Buckley

Sean is currently under commission for the RSC and is attached to the National Theatre.

His debut screenplay FOREIGN JOHN was selected by for the prestigious Coming Up Strand in 2009 to great acclaim.

His play FLESH AND FAUNA was commissioned by Pentabus.

He adapted RICHARD III for an groundbreaking educational project with the RSC and RADA which will premiere at the Swan Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon and then tour nationwide.

Sean's first play, MATCHES FOR MONKEYS premiered at Chelsea Theatre  in June 2004 directed by Tessa Walker (Debris, Latchmere, BAC).

Sean was commissioned by Kate Rowland to write STONE BABY for The Wire slot on Radio 3, produced by Toby Swift.  STONE BABY has now been adapted for the stage.

MATCHES FOR MONKEYS was shortlisted for the Verity Bargate Award 2002.  In lieu of the 2002 award , Sean was one of the three finalists chosen to receive a Verity Bargate Bursary.  

Sean was a member of the BBC SPARKS Radio Drama Group 2004 led by Jessica Dromgoole and Kate Rowland.

Sean trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq where he co-founded the devised theatre company, Quiconque http://www.quiconque.co.uk .He co-created and scripted one of the smash hits of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2002 - BIG BAD DUVET TERROR in which he also played the pivotal role of Bun, age 7. 

Sean's play, THE LITTLE ARK was selected for the Royal Court's IMPRINT Festival 2002 with a rehearsed reading directed by Simon Usher.   Sean was also commissioned by Soho Theatre. 

Sean attended the Select Writers Group at the Royal Court Theatre led by Simon Stephens.

His recent work includes SOUTH OF NOD and he is currently working on THE SALVATION CELL.
