Tara lives in Dublin. She attended the Dingle Writing Course in 1997 and found Michael Harding inspirational. In 2000 Tara won the Fingal Scribe Playwrighting Award for a one act play THE SHAPE. She had her first professional productions in August and September of that year with THE SHAPE and WATCHDOG. THE SHAPE went on to complete a tour of Ireland by Moate Players as part of the Amateur Drama League of Ireland One Act Play Competition. In June 2001 she won the Oz Whitehead playwrighting award for ACTION MAN. Three months later saw the first production of a full length work - THE SUCK at the Project Theatre, Dublin. In March 2002, she was awarded the Sean Dunne Literary Award for her play THE HEN HOUSE followed in May by the Eamon Keane full length play award for THE PIANO LESSON at Listowel Writer's Week.
Tara was part of the Peacock Theatre New Playwright Development Project which involves writing a script over 24 months. Her play THE CALL was presented by Peri Talking Theatre at the Crypt Arts Centre, Dublin Castle in July 2002 and THE PIANO LESSON was presented at the Project Theatre, again under the direction of David Horna. Meanwhile she is developing a radio play for the BBC.
