Jane Elson

Jane has won the King's Cross New Writing Award 2007 for Leonardo Stole My Crayon. Jane’s first full length play Leonardo Stole my Crayon about young offenders and dyslexia was directed by Janette Smith. A dyslexic herself the play was written after she ran some drama workshops with young offenders at HMS Polmont in Scotland. During development Leonardo had a reading at the Royal Court. It starred Lindsey Coulson and Lennie James and was picked up by the Old Vic Open Page productions for an evening of new work.

Jane’s ten minute play Fish Boy won a place at the International Play Festival at Croydon Warehouse and is currently being developed into a full length play.

Her play Matching Clothes directed by Yael Shavit was performed at a gala evening Four X 4 held at Soho Theatre and produced by Little London Theatre Company . The evening was designed to show established writers alongside new talent and Jane’s work was performed along side that of Alan Drury, Seamus Finnegan and Andrew Neil.

Jane was short listed for the 2002 Soho Theatres Westminster prize for her play Can You See Me? Following this she wrote a piece for Net Curtains Theatre Company ' Well Done Stephanie ' which she directed at Soho Theatre. Jane was then asked to perform ' Well Done Stephanie ' at Hackney Empire Bullion Room Theatre for International Women's Week.

Her screen play Missing was produced by BBS Prods and Funky Gibbon films. Her comedy sketches have been performed at the Jeanette Cochran Theatre, The Pleasance and The Millfield Theatres. Her short play Don't Run Walk was performed at The Canal Café Theatre.

Jane works with children at The Moat School for dyslexia to whom she is very committed. And shares her writing space with her big ginger blind cat Griffid whom she fosters from Cats Protection.
