Samina worked as a documentary-maker before she started writing. She is currently working on a comedy drama proposal with writer Susan Oudot for Hartswood Films. She is also developing a historical drama serial with Scott Free UK.
In 2007 she was selected for the BBC’s Writers’ Academy and since then she has written for EastEnders, Holby City and Doctors as well as continuing to develop her own original work. Her film scripts have been supported by the Performing Arts Lab (The British Ghost), and ScreenEast/The Film Council (Weekend Break), and her TV screenplay The Road to Mecca was commissioned by BBC1.
Samina’s short stage play The Speech received a rehearsed reading at The Theatre Royal Stratford East while her Radio 4 play Migrant Memory garnered positive reviews:
“Unbearably touching... any actor could sound terrific with writing this insightful, humorous and just generally all-round good.” Chris Campling, The Times
Her new radio play Tall Stories will be broadcast in September by Radio 4.
