Joe decided to become a screenwriter when, age 12, he accidentally deleted his first novel in progress from his dads Amstrad computer and didn’t have the heart to start again. Realising screenplays have less words, he knew that was the career for him.

Since then, he’s been busy. He’s recently completed a year working alongside Frank Cottrell Boyce as part of the UKFC / Skillset’s prestigious Guiding Lights scheme, which provides mentoring for up-and-coming film professionals.

To date, Joe has completed three commissions for Screen Yorkshire, including the family film THE JOURNEY OF BOSKO BASIC, horror THE CLAN and the warped romantic comedy A BEGINNERS GUIDE TO STALKING. He has also completed work for the Eon Screenwriters Workshop.

His current comedy script, LET’S LAUNCH LEONARD, follows two dreamers from a run down mining town who have a vision of being the first amateur astronauts in space. Their mission: To convert their knackered old ambulance into a rocket suitable for interstellar travel.

As well as his feature film work, he has written several produced short films, the most recent was the UKFC Digital Short, SOUL FLOWERS. He also works as a script reader for Screen Yorkshire and the Script Connection, who report on UKFC projects.

He was recently named in a list of top "100 Bright Young Things", highlighting new talent in the region, sponsored by Yorkshire Forward.
